Save the date for Empty Bowls 2018!

This year's Empty Bowls Project will be held Thursday, April 5 at the Brownwood Coliseum. Plans are underway now to make this a great event! Sponsors and volunteers are being sought. Bowl parties are being planned. Please reserve your spot NOW to paint bowls for this project. Bowls will be sent out to local middle and high school art classes, as well as area nursing and assisted living facilities first then to groups/organizations that would like the chance to host their own painting party.

If you are unfamiliar with the Empty Bowls Project, it is an incredible community-wide fundraising event whose purpose is to raise funds and awareness of hunger both locally and globally. Ninety percent of everything raised at this event will stay in Brown County to help our friends and neighbors who are food-insecure. This year, the ten percent tithe will go to an International hunger relief organization. This is the only time we EVER send money outside of the county.

At the event, for a $10 ticket, attendees may choose a hand-painted ceramic bowl to take home and then dine on a simple meal of soup and water. The soup is donated by local restaurants. The empty bowl is yours to serve as a reminder of those in our own community and around the world who have empty bowls and empty stomachs. There is live music at the event and a special "store" set up with items we have saved from our Resale Store.

We can't wait for this year's event and hope that you are just as excited as we are! If you have any questions, please call us at 643-2273.
